I gained my qualifications to practise over a 6 year period and have ten years experience of counselling, working with clients with a wide range of issues.
I am a Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Member of the Association of Independent Practitioners.
I have a BA Honours degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and an Advanced Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling. As part of my degree I have undertaken training in CBT and have experience of working with clients wanting this approach.
I undertake both brief counselling and long term work with single and couple clients. I use Psychodynamic counselling which involves helping clients to make links with issues from their past to the present and often deals with regression and repression. I also practise Integratively (utilising one or more counselling approaches according to the therapeutic needs of my client) and, where appropriate, use Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) which can assist in changing negative thought patterns to positive ones
I work with issues about careers, some of which can cause stress and depression, and am also trained in Information, Advice & Guidance which I have provided in both institutional and individual settings.
